THE FARM: Alianza Café is a cooperative based in Buesaco, a municipality in the Nariño Department. Working together, the group has become a coffee producing powerhouse. They have blossomed from an initial 100 founding members in 2017, to 1,000 members today. Their farms are spread throughout the region at dizzying altitudes ranging from 1,900 to 2,300 meters above sea level.

Nariño is a small department on the corner of Colombia that borders Ecuador and the Pacific Ocean. The region sits just a hair above the equator, and some of the highest-grown coffee in the world is found here. The towering altitude, framed by warm days and cool nights, is the perfect environment for slow coffee maturation and concentrated sugar development in coffee cherries.

While many of our coffees grow organically by default, Nariño is certified USDA Organic; the farm and supply chain must adhere to strict standards from tree to cup.

OUR ROAST: Chocolatey smells are pervasive in this coffee from Nariño, and imbue the cup with a layered profile of bittersweet confections. Our roast produces an impressive level of sweetness that cuts through the intense chocolate roast bittering, culminating in a nicely bittersweet dark roast brew. This is a great option for milk drinks and espresso too!
