Uganda Rwenzori Dry Process
Uganda Rwenzori Dry Process
THE FARM: The Rwenzori mountain range is an up-and-coming source of consistently high-quality Ugandan green coffee beans. Our partners on the ground established receiving stations throughout the mountain range to facilitate cherry collection before transporting them to a centralized wet mill, where processing can be carried out under careful supervision and quality control. The Rwenzoris are known for producing high-quality unroasted natural - dry process - coffees. This coffee was grown in altitudes ranging from 1300-1900 meters above sea level, and collected via the receiving stations, where farmers were paid double what they’re used to getting for dried Ugandan Arabica. Much of Uganda’s green coffee used to be made up of dried coffees that were inconsistent and often of poor quality. As a result, farmers struggled to earn much cash from these harvests. The new receiving stations and updated washing stations are changing that. The new infrastructure enables coffee cherries to be delivered and processed into high-quality unroasted green coffees.
OUR ROAST: The ground coffee has raw sugars and sandalwood accents. The level of sweetness gains momentum after the hot water is poured, and an aromatic mixture of cocoa butter and caramel. Our deep roast has a sturdy base of plum and blackberry-like bitter-sweetness that cools to notes that’ll remind you of a nice Merlot.
